Post Bylaws Current

The Bylaws and changes thereto are ultimately approved by Department of California. The Bylaws provide the approved “laws” and direction for the proper operation of the Post.  Each member of the American Legion family is encouraged to read and be aware of the contents.  After all, it is YOUR Post and you should know the rules.
Members recommending changes should present them, in writing, to the Post Adjutant so that they may be addressed to the Executive Board and membership for approval and possible implementation. Rationale for the change is strongly encouraged. Membership approved Bylaws are effective immediately and will remain in effect unless overturned by Department who is the final approval authority.
The Bylaws of American Legion Post 282 were approved by Department on 25 April 2016.
MEMBERS:  Five years have passed since our Bylaws were revised.  It is time to do that again.  The first reading will be at the American Legion facility meeting on 22 April 2021 (same date as the election of officers for the new year), and the final reading and vote for these Bylaws will be at the meeting of 25 May 2021.
